Writing

Genealogical writing starts with a thoughtfully-prepared narrowly-written research question. The question then is thoroughly researching, noting what is found and what cannot be found. Resulting documents can be either a proof statement, proof summary, or proof argument. Christina follows the Genealogy Standards compiled by the Board for Certification of Genealogists.

Longer reports may be prepared which can include sections on the goals for the report, any prior research that was done, along with context, presentation of current findings, searches that did not yield evidence, and sometimes next steps in research.

Other types of reports that can be prepared are pedigree charts and family group sheets for clients, lineage society applications, biographies and family histories, land deed research and compilation and house histories.

Christina also designs and maintains websites for clients. using WordPress. She specializes in genealogy chapter sites and history sites and believes in designing sites that clients can then maintain with minimal training. Fees depend on hours involved in the project. A basic site hierarchy and set-up can be designed for about $100 (client adds content), while complete site design and implementation rates start at $30 per hour.
